Featured inWhat Is The Grit & Grind ExperIENCE?
Grit & Grind is an intentional, genuine experience that starts out with the “Coffee Grind” (an initial conversation).
Pre-Work is given prior to the “Coffee Grind” so that the 55 minutes is used in the best, most productive way,
The “Coffee Grind” will ensure that we are able to connect as partners, collaborators, advocates, and developers—and that you feel comfortable listening to, taking in, and owning hard facts, opinions, and decisions that come with being a part of Grit & Grind.
Should the “Coffee Grind” feel welcoming, productive, cooperative partnership, then Grit & Grind will follow up with a Plan of Action.
-
Pre-work before the “Coffee Grind” ensures a productive, efficient, energized meeting. Key actions include defining objectives, reviewing agendas, gathering relevant documentation (board makeup, development work, goals for the company), preparing key questions, and reflecting on desired outcomes. This preparation maximizes time, facilitates better decision-making, and allows for deeper, more focused discussions.
-
The “Coffee Grind” is a meant to be a naturally flowing conversation to get-to-know each other as partners—and to get to know what is needed for the business, nonprofit, team, etc. in need of support. Now is the time to discuss strengthening the nonprofit or discuss corporate governance by determining if the need is to, for example, assess skills, improve structure, or enhance strategic effectiveness,
Next steps will include providing tailored services, including assessments, recruitment strategy, role clarification, and training.
-
This comprehensive plan of attack for a business project involves defining a clear scope, setting measurable goals, and assigning responsibilities with strict deadlines for everyone on the team—this will mean getting to know everyone’s roles and abilities ahead of time and gaining their trust.
Key steps in this process include creating a project charter, developing a detailed task list, identifying required resources, and establishing a monitoring process to track progress and adjust to changes, which are inevitable and must be accounted for and thought of ahead of time.
-
Nonprofit development (fundraising/strategic growth) concentrates on securing diverse resources — including grants, individual donations, major gifts, and corporate partnerships — to advance an organization’s mission, while nonprofit business development involves creating and launching earned‑income ventures and social enterprises to build long‑term financial sustainability and diversify revenue streams.
